Disclaimer

I don’t earn anything when you click a link on this Site. There are no ads, no affiliate links, and no sponsored posts. Nothing is for sale here. If that ever changes, I’ll say so on this page and in any post that contains a paid link.

Nothing here is financial, investment, legal, tax, or professional advice. Everything on this Site, in 1-in-3, and on my social accounts is for education only. I’m not a licensed financial advisor, investment advisor, broker-dealer, attorney, or accountant. I don’t manage money or make personal recommendations. Talk to a qualified professional before you make a financial, legal, or tax decision.

No results are promised. The research I write about describes groups of people, not what will happen to you. Return figures such as 7% a year are assumptions used for illustration, not forecasts. All investing carries risk, including losing the money you put in, and past results don’t guarantee future ones. Your decisions and their outcomes are your own.

Privacy

In this policy, “I,” “me,” and “my” mean Indy Karveli. “You” means anyone who visits the Site or subscribes. It covers IndyKarveli.com (the “Site”) and the 1-in-3 newsletter.

What I collect

Your email address, only if you give it to me, for example when you subscribe to 1-in-3 or ask for the free introduction to Selfmade Habits.

Your name, if you choose to give it. I use it to address your emails and for nothing else.

Visit data. Like most sites, this one records basic information when you visit, such as pages viewed, browser and device type, and time on page. Ghost, the platform that runs the Site, collects this, and I use it to see which pages help people.

Email engagement. The newsletter platform records whether an email was opened, which links were clicked, and how a subscriber found the Site. Some email apps block or pre-load these signals, so the numbers are approximate. Links from this Site to other sites may carry a tag showing the visit came from IndyKarveli.com.

Replies. If you reply to an email, I receive your message and address. I read replies to learn what’s useful, and I don’t share them.

How I use it

I use your email address to send you 1-in-3 and, now and then, other emails about this Site. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email. I use visit and engagement data, looked at in total rather than person by person, to improve the Site and the newsletter.

I will never sell, rent, trade, or barter your email address or personal information. Period.

I may share information if the law requires it, for example in response to a court order.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. This Site uses cookies for two things:

Sign-in: to recognize you as a subscriber and let you manage your subscription.
Analytics: to understand how the Site is used.

There are no advertising cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block them, some features, such as managing your subscription, may stop working.

Services that handle your data

Ghost (ghost.org) hosts the Site, stores subscriber data, and sends the newsletter on my behalf. Its privacy policy is at ghost.org/privacy.

Google Fonts serves the Site’s typefaces and may log your IP address. See policies.google.com/privacy.

The Site links to other sites, including my accounts on 𝕏, Instagram, and YouTube. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and I’m not responsible for them.

How long I keep it

I keep your email address while you’re subscribed. When you unsubscribe, you’re removed from the mailing list. You can ask me to delete your data completely at any time.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no data sent over the internet is 100% secure. I can’t be responsible for information intercepted without my knowledge or permission.

Children

This Site isn’t meant for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child under 13 has subscribed, contact me and I’ll delete it right away.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me to:

(i) show you the personal data I hold about you
(ii) correct it
(iii) delete it
(iv) stop emailing you, at any time

If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, the law may give you more rights, including the right to restrict how your data is used and to complain to a data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email me at the address below.

Everything on this Site, including articles, newsletter issues, and graphics, is my original work and protected by copyright. Selfmade Habits is the name of my book. You’re welcome to share links and quote short passages with credit to Indy Karveli and a link back. Please don’t republish, sell, or build on the work without my written permission.

The newsletter

1-in-3 is free and arrives once a week. I may change its timing, format, or content. Subscribing doesn’t create any agreement beyond my sending it to you.

Using the Site

Please don’t use the Site for anything unlawful, interfere with how it runs, try to access parts of it you aren’t meant to, or scrape its content or subscriber information.

No warranties

The Site and its content are provided “as is.” I work to keep everything accurate and to correct mistakes when I find them, but I can’t guarantee that the content is complete or error-free, or that the Site will always be available.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I’m not liable for any damages that come from using the Site or relying on its content. If you’re unhappy with the Site, your remedy is to stop using it. You agree to hold me harmless from claims that arise from your use of the Site or your breach of these terms.

Changes to this page

I may update this page at any time. Changes will appear here with a new date at the top. If you keep using the Site after a change, you accept the updated version.

Governing law

This page and your use of the Site are governed by the laws of the United States. If a dispute comes up, we’ll first try to settle it in good faith. If that fails, it will go to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. If any part of this page can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
