I trade markets every morning. I raise my kids every afternoon. And once a week, I sit down and write about what I've learned doing both.

The short version

I'm a day trader, husband, and father. I trade Nasdaq futures and gold every day during the New York session. Most mornings I'm done by 11:00 AM. The rest of my day belongs to my family.

How I got here

I didn't inherit a trading account or a family business. Nobody handed me a playbook. I started from zero, made every mistake you can make — blown accounts, overtrade after overtrade, revenge trades that turned bad days into terrible ones — and slowly, painfully, built a process that works.

That process is what I write about. Not theory. Not motivation. The actual day-to-day work of building discipline, protecting capital, and showing up consistently even when the results don't cooperate.

The word "selfmade" means something specific to me: a person who has achieved success through their own effort, not through inheritance, connections, or outside help. That's the standard I hold myself to, and it's the lens through which I write everything on this site.

Family

I trade alongside my wife Kitty. She focuses on SPY options and defined-risk setups — she's the reason our risk rules are non-negotiable and the reason the screens turn off at a reasonable hour. We run Karveli Investing together, where we share our family's approach to day trading.

We have kids who remind us every day that markets close but family doesn't. They see the charts, they know we study patterns, and they understand that some days the best decision is to do nothing. Those are the lessons that matter most.
